Funerals at St. Mary's & St. Philip's

A funeral for your loved one is your opportunity to come together with other family members, friends, and neighbours and to acknowledge your grief and loss together, as well as a time to express your love for the one no longer with you.

This can be expressed through a variety of tributes read by those who knew them well and loved them dearly, perhaps alongside a photo tribute, or a selection of secular songs, hymns and poems.

As we help and support you, we can discuss all that you’d like to include to make the service as special and as fitting as possible. It can be as simple or as diverse as you feel is appropriate.

A service conducted by an Anglican (Church of England) minister will always include a bible reading, The Lord’s Prayer, and a short address/homily, as well as the authorised words of commendation and committal. The rest of the service is open to your choices.

For those unable to attend in person, whether through health, mobility or distance, St. Mary’s now has the ability to live stream the service to them wherever they are via our live YouTube Channel (this can also be watched at a later time and date, which is especially helpful if they live in a different time zone).

You can find all of our services by using the following link: St Mary’s Alsager – YouTube (if you are looking to join such a service).

Please note that not all families choose to have their service live streamed, and those that do may not wish for them to be streamed publicly. Such services will require a private link to view them. Please check with the deceased’s family and they will be able to advise you.
